Michael B. Bittner, Esq., CIPP/US
I represent small & mid-sized companies in a variety of corporate and business matters with a specific focus on software and technology companies. I serve as fractional General Counsel to GotSoccer, a software-as-a-service provider of sports registration and management software, and OnDefend, a cybersecurity consulting and software products company.
My primary focus is business law, commercial contracts, technology agreements, software license and service agreements, data privacy, and cybersecurity. I have extensive experience advising clients in general business matters, including corporate formation and structure issues, contract negotiation and drafting, employment matters, intellectual property protection and licensing, construction contracts and lien law, technology law, and real estate development. I focus on the day-to-day legal needs of growing companies that do not yet need full-time in-house counsel and may rely on an outside law firm for day-to-day legal matters.
I am a native of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, but have been called Jacksonville home since 1997. I received my Juris Doctorate with Honors in 2002 from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Duquesne University (B.S 1995) and a master's degree from the University of Florida (M.S. 1997).
I am a member of the Florida Bar and serve on the Florida Bar Business Law Section Computer & Technology Law Section as the Articles Liaison. I also am a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and am a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) with knowledge of laws and corporate policies related to information use, privacy, and data protection.
I am a past Chair of the Board of Directors of Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida, Inc., and serve as Treasurer of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of the Diocese of St. Augustine, Inc. I live in Jacksonville, Florida with my wife, Lori, and our two children, Hannah and Jacob. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, triathlons, mountain biking, and skiing.
